Fort Munro is a hill station in Dera Ghazi Khan District, Punjab,
Pakistan. The station lies on the Quetta Road 85 km from the city of
Dera Ghazi Khan in the Sulaiman Mountains. Its elevation is 1800 meters
(6,470 feet) above sea level and it attracts many people for short stays
during the hot summer. Fort Munro is called Nimroo in the local Balochi
language, and was once known as Thal, a Balochi word meaning "plains".
The people of Fort Munro are nomads, especially of the Leghari tribe.
Many are bilingual, speaking Balochi (called Sulemani locally) and
Saraiki.
